U.K. to ban gasoline car sales by 2030 as part of green plan

Boris Johnson made the pledge as part of plans for a “green industrial revolution” that he claims could create up to 250,000 jobs in energy, transport and technology.

Automakers have expressed concern about the target, saying the previous goal of 2040 was already ambitious. The environmental push is part of Johnson's efforts to move beyond the tremors of the coronavirus pandemic and Britain's divisive exit from the European Union, and to bring new jobs to struggling former industrial regions of central and northern England.

“Our green industrial revolution will be powered by the wind turbines of Scotland and the North East, propelled by the electric vehicles made in the Midlands and advanced by the latest technologies developed in Wales, so we can look ahead to a more prosperous, greener future.”

Tesla model S P100D does 0-60 in 2.2 seconds which is faster than 99% of cars made. Upper 9 second quarter miles and 200mph top speed there’s literally nothing slow about performance EVs. They will replace all racing cars at some point period.

Good Luck with that! I am sure they will be back peddling on that when the realize that the grid and generation of power will not support it! But on the flip side, more coal and natural gas will be consumed to create the power for the EV's! Is this it really the answer?

Saying it is one thing- the technology in the Private Sector will have to be up to the challenge - not wishful thinking or Government intervention.

And all these electric vehicles should be made out of the recycled gas guzlers for clarity of the enviroment.
