Rwanda cannot be treated as a safe third country for tens of thousands of asylum seekers, says Court of Appeal in a blow to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

Britain’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is unlawful, London’s Court of Appeal ruled on Thursday, in a major setback for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak who has pledged to stop migrants arriving across the Channel in small boats., Britain’s government planned to send tens of thousands of asylum seekers who arrive on its shores more than 6,400 km to the East African country.

In December, the High Court ruled the policy was lawful, but that decision was challenged by asylum seekers from several countries along with human rights organizations.
