OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is opening the door to spending more on Canada's military in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is opening the door to spending more on Canada's military in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Trudeau is in London today for meetings with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte where all were asked about shoring up their defence budgets. Trudeau says the Liberal government previously committed to spending hundreds of billions of additional dollars on the military as part of its defence policy but acknowledged the world has changed since that policy was released five years ago,All NATO members agreed in 2014 to spend the equivalent of two per cent of their GDP on defence in response to Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region.

Last week Germany said it would hike spending to go above that target but Canada's spending plan still leaves it far short of the two per cent goal.view larger image Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau makes a point as he responds to a question during a joint availability with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte at Downing St., Monday, March 7, 2022 in London. Canada about to beat USA in Defense spending 🤣🤣🤣

We're all doomed. Thankfully the cities that will be destroyed first are where most of our problems are.

Should have happened a long-time ago. You can't be a sovereign nation if you can't defend yourself. Ask the Ukrainians.

Hurry up and help!

Just left him a message...JustinTrudeau I couldn't possibly be more serious.

Maybe we will actually reach our 2% of gdp spending on military obligation for the first time since the mid 80’s.

With his personal money?

Dont do that.

invoke emergency act and send your police officer to Ukraine. Who wants to defend Trudeau? Since he put himself above everyone. These are peoples children, son, daughter etc they need to be home with their loved ones. This is your war; fix it.

Canadian are suffering here at home. Just give every citizen a million each and we can all move pass this. This guys has bankrupt the country.

Be prepared for the Great Reset as JustinTrudeau aka: CKtrudeau is spending all of Canada's reserves. Trudeau being Castros son knows what he's doing when it comes to 'control the people' Your so called freedom will be gone.

JustinTrudeau aka: CKtrudeau Is also in league with Klaus Schwab, the most dangerous man in the world. 👇👇👇

Meet your NATO commitments of 2% of GDP for defence budget. You’re all talk but no action

Thank you, Trudeau!

He just put a bulls eye on Canada.

He closed the door on any oil energy independence in Canada by increasing our own production.

Absolutely time for Canada to increase defense spending. Our brave men and women of the CAF deserve modern equipment, planes and ships required to defend our country.

Canada can’t even defend itself. Ukraine 🇺🇦 has more equipment then. Is..

Good. Lets realize that whatever additional military spending is authorized, the CAF will not see any impact for 5 to 10 years (and I am generous). Lesson learned: don't wait for a crisis to be ready for a crisis

GO away already.

Start with ordering the F35’s already!!! Our F18’s are obsolete.

Money wasted ... again

This tooth pick of a boy?

How about opening door to more oil and gas to take pressure off speculative oil prices

I see the bot farms are active again. Too bad the CPC cannot muster a platform and have to rely instead on smear campaigns using Russian bots.

God Bless our Prime Minister in these unprecedented times.

Is money/funds really the answer though? Manpower is the answer!

We need to cut our inflation rate and caring aboit Canadians matyer more important than taking the lead in Other matters thats half way away from the globe. You need to take a vote b4 wasting tax payers money around

Better save some money for Canadians

If he does up the spending it better be by a massive amount, like almost unreasonable or there isn't any point. Equipment and training is just getting more and more complicated and expensive. A bump if 1% or some shit like that will do nothing but make taxes go up.

I priced out 100 F35's fighter at 100 million each, 15 Frigates at $1 Billion each (off shelf) and throw in 6 Nuclear subs, 6 heavy Nuclear ice breakers, round it off to $250 Billion. Way under the 700 Billion vote buying money printed through. You're welcome.

Miltary aid directly to Ukraine or only as needed by Canadian role in NATO...NOT BLANK CHECK

Blackface Hitler opens door to more military spending.

After cutting military spending for decades now is a good time to start? Lol. More great preparation by the Liberals. We have not met our NATO commitment in some time. We wont be up to where we need to be for decades because of Liberal mismanagement. This leaves us vulnerable.

So why is it Trudeau increases military spending abroad but not one Federal government has increased spending on our military at home?

We're a member of nato and as such were legally obligated to spend 2% gdp on military spending which we have not done in a long time. Headline should read Canada to finally meet military spending obligations

What would be great is if he actually built our Forces up for when we need them.

Environmental racism tax?

PM Trudeau set to depart for Europe to meet with allies on Ukraine responseAs Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was set to depart for Europe on Sunday, Russian forces said they would observe a temporary cease-fire in part of its invasion of Ukraine. Suggest he avoid the front lines - a helmet will mess his hair up. He is out making another fool action, lets be serious ffs Wish he would send someone that could sit at the leadership table, and have tough discussions and listen to everyone. He does have great hiding and avoidance skills, I guess he can demonstrate those skills.
