Trudeau knows there’s trouble on the horizon via politico

01/30/2023 05:00 AM ESTOTTAWA — It’s unclear if Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will still be in power at the end of the year.

In his Friday speech to his party, Trudeau cast himself as a leader with a “positive vision of the future” and portrayed his rival as full of rage and light on policy and “positive solutions.” But by Saturday’s caucus meeting, the prime minister had softened his language on the threat of his government falling.

“It’s not going to feel good,” he said shortly after the central bank raised its benchmark interest rate 25 basis points — its eighth consecutive hike in the past year to tamp down inflation. A damning report could elicit a vote of non-confidence in the House of Commons, giving the New Democrats’ deal to prop up the minority Liberals’ until 2025 its first major stress test.Trudeau’s team has dined out on the prime minister’s friendship with former Preisdent Barack Obama to lift his progressive credibility. Biden’s first in-person visit to Canada as president will be a bromide for the prime minister on the heels of whatever the Rouleau’s inquiry finds.

A prudent spring budget won’t necessarily mean a thrifty Fall Economic Statement. In 2021, the Liberals campaigned on a platform that touted C$78 billion in new spending, a bulk of which remains unallocated. The Liberal’s proposed gun legislation , prohibiting some hunting rifle and shotgun models, is a ripe opportunity for Conservatives to cast Liberals as an urban party.

politico Will we get an honest decision with regard to the invocation of the Emergencies Act? Trudeau's Uncle Paul Rouleau is really in a Conflict of interest position 🤔

Poilievre challenges Trudeau to fix 'broken' Canada or 'get out of the way'At a caucus meeting, Poilivre told his MPs a Conservative government would cap spending, reduce waste and 'fire high-priced consultants.' Wow, the arrogance of this man. Another demigod waiting in the wings..No ONE person can fix all that is 'broken' in Canada or the world. This 'I alone can fix it mantra needs to take a step back. It takes a village. Honestly, fed up with these testosterone authoritarian types. Or else what? Opinion | Less focus on Justn Trudeau might be beneficial to the Liberal brandLiberals may be better off to refresh their message rather than rebrand the party. TorontoStar That’s a funny way of saying “Liberals dislike Trudeau” TorontoStar It is not Liberals who are focused on the PM but opposition parties (that appears to be all they have) and many in the media. Policies like day care, gun control and the environment concern many outside of the opposition. TorontoStar The PMO and Trudeau have marginalized the rest of the party and driven anyone competent out of the inner circle so all the Liberals have left now is Trudeau. He is the Liberal brand, he is destroying the Liberal brand, and all his acolytes are standing around watching it 🔥.
