Total cost of 2021 cyberattack on N.L.’s health-care system still unknown

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — It’s been almost three years since the cyberattack on the province’s health-care system, but the total cost to taxpayers is still unknown.

Both Evans and Petten asked if the government was working on allowing nurse practitioners to bill MCP for their services. Osborne said physicians say the fee-for-service system does not work well, and it may need an overhaul. Osborne said that is under active negotiation. Similar to when the government negotiates with unions, he said he can’t negotiate in public.Petten asked about the status of the positron emission tomography scanner for Corner Brook. He asked if it was purchased, and if there’s staff to run it.
