Toronto will find out next month whether it has been chosen as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The expanded 48-team tournament has already been awarded jointly to Canada, the United States and Mexico but FIFA has not yet revealed its list of host cities for the event.

In a news release issued early Friday morning, FIFA confirmed that it will be making an announcement on June 16 about which 16 cities will be formally selected as hosts. “In line with the previous stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026 selection process, any announcement will be made in the best interests of football, taking into consideration the needs of all stakeholders involved, as we aim to lay the foundations for the tournament to be delivered successfully across all three countries,” FIFA Vice-President and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani said in the release.

Some of the bigger line items include $63.7 million in capital work to prepare BMO Field to host games and $41.2 million to build training facilities for visiting teams.

Just have to bribe the rest officials

It's all about the envelopes and tax breaks and one sided agreements for FIFA

No way that will happen.

Toronto is a mess right now. No thanks to mayor John Tory & his penny pinching conservative governance. Have you checked Pearson Airport? Crime. Concrete downtown. No way they get it. cityoftoronto SeeTorontoNow Why again is he running to be re-elected? 🗳

Send Johnny to FIFA !

Kapuskasing

Omg all the hoodlums are gonna come out guns ablazing, terrible place do not recommend

🤞Italy looses in the qualification rounds.

Shit we just took down the Toronto 2008 Olympics banner over the dvp

Would be amazing to have World Cup in Toronto. Probably the most international city in the world. Hope it happens. Toronto is a great sports city.

No thanks, people can't even find places to live/stay here already and the city wants an influx of MORE?

Great for the economy

Toronto with its poor infrastructure, lackluster nightlife, horrid entertainment and lack of hospitality? There's better cities, like Montreal.

Rase no..Toronto couldn't handle it..it would be a costly disaster

John Tory should be thrown out of the country if not

Spoiler Alert: They will

Oh gawd I hope Toronto is not hosting

It would be criminal if they didn't!!

If they don’t allow it, Edmonton would be the only place hosting games for the Canadian side of the bid.
