The City of Toronto says it has instructed security companies under contract to accommodate their employees with religious exemptions after a national Sikh advocacy organization called out the municipal government's "clean-shave" policy around N95 masks, which the group says has led to demotions and layoffs.
“Such relocations often come with a demotion in both rank and salary. In many instances, individuals who had been hired as supervisors or managers have been demoted to security guards,” WSO said in a July 4 release.“It has caused havoc in the lives of these security guards,” said Boparai, who serves as WSO’s spokesperson and legal counsel.
“The new clean shave rules have been introduced at a time when visitors to City sites are no longer required to be masked. The clean-shave requirement is also not being enforced for staff and workers at city sites,” WSO said in a release. To make matters worst, Anand said the accommodation offered to him by his employer amounted to both a demotion and a pay cut.Two other security companies that also have contracts with the city – Garda World and Star Security – did not respond to CTV Toronto’s request for comment on the situation. In a statement issued Monday evening, the city said it is "confident" that contracted security guards with religious exemptions can be accommodated.

Religious exemptions are the most ridiculous type of exemption that exist... especially when it comes to health/safety measures.
🤣 I've had plenty of jobs where it's mandatory to be clean shaven in order to wear a mask, silica dust, some were for H2S. The N95 is USELESS with even a 3 day shadow. I'm white and have been forced to dry shave onsite or go home. Don't want to follow the rules find another job
This is beyond ridiculous, all you have to do is claim religion, sexual orientation or race and you get whatever you want these days.
How about accommodating those of us that made the medical choice to not vax?
Good luck getting anyone else to replace them at $18 an hour.

Nobody should be able to force ANYONE to wear a muzzle if they choose not to. The quicker people drill that into their heads, the better off we’ll all be.
When is enough To impose? Knife when you go shopping, turban instead of police issued cap,not taking turban off in certain buildings, no hamlet...when you will be done with your ridiculous demands! Safety should be implied on all examples that I know of..who knows how many more

No religious exemptions. I'm sorry that there are not other positions they could fill but health exemptions for religious reasons is ridiculous during a contagious public health emergency.
