Toronto Police devoting more staff to patrol TTC as violence spins out of control Toronto TorontoPolice TTC

"Some have been critical of these initiatives, and critical of increased investments in the police service, but they were right at the first time when I announced them, and they are still a necessary part of the safety answers for today and for tomorrow," Tory said.

However, many people weren't too thrilled with the new plan, and attributed the root of the problem to lack of mental health support and inadequate housing in the city. This is not the answer. It might be a part of it-although we know Toronto police unfairly target BIPOC people- but mental health workers are much more needed on the TTC. And safe spacing including housing are needed to solve the larger problem.

Toronto mayor, police chief, TTC to provide update on transit safety after attacksThe TTC says it has added more special constable patrols on subways and is deploying more uniformed staff around the system While the increased patrols are necessary, it's not a fix. The fact is that the TTC, even at a basic level is underserviced. The myth of unstaffed stations and untended subways and streetcars has created opportunity for the system to become a 'survival of the fittest' challenge. Blah blah blah.. Mayor? Seriously

Toronto mayor, police chief, TTC head to speak on transit safety amid spike in violenceA recent rash of violent, and sometimes random, incidents on the TTC has pushed police to call a news conference Thursday to address transit safety. Either fund the TTC (historically starved and defunded lately too) by defunding police (where all the money is) or get lost; any other approach isn't serious and is just PR. They do love announcing. In addition to firearms, crime will now be banned

Toronto mayor, police chief, TTC head to speak on transit safety amid spike in violenceA recent rash of violent, and sometimes random, incidents on the TTC has pushed police to call a news conference Thursday to address transit safety. 'We created this, we're sorry, and we will fix this' will be the only acceptable speech from these lazy clowns. Toronto TTC MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO START LISTENING TO THEIR EMPLOYEES, NOT FEEDBACK FROM THE UNIONS. People got away with lots so now it's taken up a notch, ACCOUNTABILITY. Union members are not on the buses or in the stations except elections, focus groups, the workers knows so listen. Why ? Nothing is going to change.. this system is a joke
