In a country that prides itself on being far more rational than Americans on the issue of firearms, I’ve sadly been through more than my share of commemorations and funerals after shootings. , a 25-year-old police officer in my riding who’d been shot through a door and right through her bullet-proof vest with a high-powered hunting rifle.
The debate now largely revolves around the types of weapons, their shapes, what they look like. Assault-style essentially means that they look like the automatic weapons that are used by armed forces. Since Harper abolished the long-gun registry, a police officer approaching a house where a domestic dispute has been signalled doesn’t know if there are weapons inside. So much for helping with law and order.
Trudeau is promising to finally get it right if only Canadians will elect him for a third time. Problem is, he’s had six years to do it and hasn’t.

If Trudeau thinks he's done ANYTHING to curb gun violence and the illegal guns that flow into this country then he needs more mental help than I originally thought.
They should just commit to banning all handguns, all semi-automatics, and all guns with detachable magazines (for quick reloading) and let hunters have traditional hunting guns.
Trudeau likes to throw aspersions. Although he’s been in power for 4+ years and gun violence has increased. Now he’s touting eliminating mandatory minimum sentence for some gun crimes. How is this tough on gun violence?
