Westgate will head to the NORWOSSA championship next, with a spot at provincials on the line.

THUNDER BAY – For the first time in 15 years, the Westgate Tigers are senior high school boys’ basketball champions.

Steve Stadey, who put up 16 points for the Tigers, including eight in the first quarter alone, said they might have been the favourites, but they weren’t worried going up against a team that ran the table in the regular season, posting a 10-0 record. Ben Keeler hit from deep to put Westgate in front 32-31 and Stadey got back-to-back buckets to up the lead to five.
