Thunder Bay hospital transitioning out of COVID-19 response

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is shifting out of its COVID-19 response, and into what officials call a "new normal."

In a news release issued late Friday afternoon, hospital officials said the facility will stop using their colour-coded internal pandemic response levels and no longer have screening booths set up at the main entrance. The hospital said, starting Saturday, their new normal operations will take effect. A restricted state will be implemented if needed to reinstate protective measures.

While the main entrances won't have screening booths, hospital officials said passive entrance screening will be in place, and there will be check-in stations with signage, hand sanitizer and masks. Masking will remain mandatory in the hospital, and the facility's assessment centre will continue operations without any changes.
