TOKYO -- A cruise ship passenger who had been hospitalized after testing positive for the new virus died on Sunday, the third fatality from the Diamond Princess, Japan's health ministry said.
With the new cases, 691 people have been infected on the ship, or nearly one-fifth of the ship's original population of 3,711. Japan has confirmed a total of 826 cases and four deaths from the virus, which first emerged in China, including those on the ship. The man already had symptoms when the ship returned to Yokohama near Tokyo for the quarantine and was taken to a hospital, according to a ministry statement.
Dozens of confirmed cases that continue to be reported from the ship have prompted criticisms and concerns that Japan's quarantine might have been inadequate. Japanese officials say they did their best given the challenging situation on the ship and the large number of people they had to deal with.
interesting where 'maritime law' ends and 'common law' begins...
do we need to be concerned here? i mean, i don't wanna be 'that prepper' but i'm starting to think this shit is really bad news
This is a death trap. What do we expect when you are confined with people that have covid-19? Basically if you are on that ship you will probably be infected. Then death becomes a factor of beating the odds. What a cruise!
Who made the bone headed fatal decision to lock sick people up with healthy people on a ship not designed to quarantine anyone? Did no one take grade 8 biology and use petrie dishes? The ship was one huge petrie dish of disease with lots of humans to infect.
And yet we have a Canadian who was picked up at Canada’s expense and brought home. He then has the audacity to complain about his confinement. What a jerk!
Canadian mainstream media be like 'a common cold is worse!'
