And Sheldon MacLeod may have been wrong about the impact of fixed election dates on the politics in Nova Scotia. Govts have blurred the lines between governing and campaigning/fundraising, and have abandoned long-term planning for short-term political gain (largely driven by media engagement). This only serves to weaken our democracy and erode public institutions. We must do better.
