The Sooners have clinched a playoff spot after taking three of four games in a weekend series against the Metro Brewers to wrap up regular-season play.
MacMullin, a 20-year-old infielder/pitcher, knocked a solo shot in the Sooners’ 12-4 win Sunday morning and a two-run blast in the team’s 7-5 afternoon victory. Sydney will play the third-place Halifax Pelham Canadians in a best-of-five semifinal series, while Dartmouth will take on the fourth-place Kentville Wildcats in the other semifinal.In Sunday morning’s victory, MacMullin added a single to go with his home run. Jordan Sampson drove in four runs with a pair of singles, Corson O’Rourke had a double and two singles and veteran shortstop Chris Farrow had a pair of triples.
Reilly O’Rourke went five innings to earn the win. MacMullin pitched the sixth and started the seventh before handing pitching duties over to Boutilier.
