In light of the video, multiple parents identified their children and made them come forward and take responsibility for their involvement, Munn said.
“I think that a lot of parents that are seeing this, recognize what happened, they recognize that something bad happened, and we can’t necessarily change that. But they’re taking the opportunity to try to teach their children to take responsibility for whatever their role was in an incident.” A B.C. anti-bullying group organized a convoy earlier this week that was attended by dozens of people. They dropped off gifts and some got out of their car to embrace the young girl, reported CTV.
The attack “was a very traumatic event,” that will “have a lasting impact on the victim,” said Munn. She encouraged people to come forward in light of similar incidents. “It was very concerning that there were so many people that did stand by and allow this to continue without trying to take any action to assist the victim or to contact police, she said. “We do encourage people, if they are kind of in a situation like this, even if they don’t want to physically intervene to step back and call 911 to try to get that person help.”
