The Canadian Federation of Students and the York Federation of Students jointly filed an application to quash the policy directive, arguing that Minister Merrilee Fullerton ‘breached procedural fairness and natural justice’

Students have launched a court challenge to block the Ontario government from making some student fees optional at universities and colleges.

The government said in response that students are still free to support whatever campus services they choose. Steven Shrybman, a lawyer at Goldblatt Partners representing the CFS, said the Premier’s statement contributes to the impression that this decision was motivated by animus.

A lot of people who think they are entitled to services others are obligated to pay for seem upset with Doug Ford. Must mean he’s doing his job.

Good. The student unions need to flex their muscle! Where have they been?

BevAzevedo Thug Ford must be challenged in court.

Another day, another lawsuit. Welcome to life under Conservatives.

It’s the same thing with TV. I’m forced to buy packages with hundreds of TV stations that I will never watch vs just picking the individual channels I’m interested in. Why should I be forced to fund clubs that I don’t believe or care about?

Our tuition is too high! How dare you give us the option to opt out of student clubs thus lowering your tuition! You should be forced to pay for these clubs that the minority of the school population cares about.

They are afraid that they now have to justify taking the money from students and given students are not stupid they won't be just handing it over No one is stopping them from supporting whatever student organizations they choose to but until now they didn't have that choice

The words sound reasonable yet we recognize the intention and motivation of this vengeful “petit esprit” fordnation

Spoiled kids who have no idea what they are objecting too.

Put a vote to the students. Those fascistic (by definition) federations would oppose that too.

Ontario student turns to crowdfunding to raise Harvard tuitionI would support this if the tuition was for a Canadian university. Look how Doug Ford is ruining public education! I really despise crowd funding! If you want something, work for it! The only time crowd funding is positive it when it helps someone recover from a tragic event, a fire, or illness. Even then half the stories are fake.
