This year, the Banff National Park resort is going to be going big for Avalanche Awareness Days on Jan. 21 and 22, with education opportunities all around the mountain. There will be beacon practice, snow profile talks and chances to learn from avalanche safety professionals.
There’s an après ski tasting with Park Distillery on Friday, the ever-popular Cardboard Sled Derby on Feb. 3, the next Cool2Carpool Day goes down Feb. 8, a Starlight Dinner at Cliffhouse Bistro on Feb. 10 and the annual Lifts of Love speed-dating event on Feb. 11. The FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup on Jan. 20-21 and the FIS Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup from Feb. 6-12 are both major stops on their respective international circuits. And they’re also events where you would expect Canadians — and Calgarians — to be in contention for gold.
