Proponents say garden suites and laneway suites are a much-needed tool to gently add density to existing residential neighbourhoods.

Most lakes around the world pose predictable risks — drowning or maybe a run-in with a testy marine animal. But three lakes in central Africa have something unique stirring in their depths: dangerous concentrations of methane and carbon dioxide.

"They couldn't feed if they wanted to," said Marc Gaden, communications director for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. "They have only one thing in mind once they reach that spawning phase, and that's to find a mate and to spawn successfully." These lamprey spend a good part of their life at sea attached to — and feeding off the blood of — other fish. But at this time of year, adults return to inland brooks and rivers to spawn.

Sea lampreys seek out rocky areas to spawn, she said, because the rocks help protect the newly laid eggs. Ideally, they look for rocky terrain upstream and a silty bottom downstream.

I agree with this. There's a large demographic of people that are attracted to small modular home lifestyles. Not everyone wants a giant house with a sprawling yard to manage and maintain because it's not their preference. Living happily together is the future.

It’s amazing how LOW Trudeau and CBC have happily supported our drastic drop in our “Standard of Living” going from real home ownership to “living in someone’s backyard”….sad to see in Canada third world here we come

Yes! But as long as they aren’t being used as Airbnb’s

They’re not affordable rentals though, and many are used on Airbnb, and it increases housing prices

Vancouver has tried LWHs and it's helped escalate housing prices ItsSpeculationStupid Counterpoint:

I’m sorry. Not giving up my space to provide housing. I over paid to have green space. Green space I shall have.

proponents as in Corrupt politicians proponent

With the cost of materials; cost of construction; cost of zoning and building permits etc.. The cost to rent may be much higher than what those 'proponents' think it will be.

They look much nicer than the laneway houses being built in Vancouver. It should be required that all homeowners pass an exam on tenancy rights, etc. - they should have to qualify to be a landlord. Don’t go into this blindly. All parties would benefit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Building over green space offers climate relief? Sustainable, green...last week I saw a highrise at a major intersection being sold as “executive on the park”. Seems a planter now passes as a green, sustainable “park”. Need housing yet homes sit empty.

Or to avoid the empty home tax as long as the laneway home a whopping 3 to 4 hundred feet is occupied at some ridiculous rent the main house can remain empty while being on the market . Wealthy buying 6 condos at a time reselling later for profit never occupied

Do you seriously think these were built with the intent to not gouge renters?

That’s cool

Sure, if they are somewhat affordable. Most of the time they rent for more than the annual income most renters.

Injustice, no human rights, no freedom of speech, no freedom of expression, no humanity and corruptions in every levels & everywhere in Pakistan. The whole system of Pakistan has become corrupt. Corruptions are abysmally indulged in the roots of Pakistan امپورٹڈ_حکومت_نامنظور

This Ontario restaurant chain has a history of not paying workers, data shows | CBC NewsFormer staff and vendors of Hogtown Smoke say the business owes thousands of dollars to people for unpaid wages and product. According to data from the Ontario government, the restaurant has a history of not paying staff, raising concerns from the Ministry of Labour and employment lawyers. I wish I was a business so I could steal tens of thousands of dollars and only have it 'raise the concern' of a non-police agency. That seems like a good deal. With the current labour shortages, hard to believe any employees would continue working for someone without being paid. There's definitely something wrong with how our society views justice towards workers. If someone doesn't pay for food, it's a criminal matter - but when an employer doesn't pay their workers, it's a civil matter.
