Marlee Liss forgave her rapist, now she wants to help other victims navigate the 'immensely healing' restorative justice process too

TORONTO – Marlee Liss, who opted for a restorative justice process with her rapist, rather than a criminal trial, has started an organization aimed at educating other sexual assault victims about their rights and the potential benefits of doing the same.“The trial was a really awful experience,” Liss said on CTV’s Your Morning Monday.

The Re-Humanizing organization bases their work on the eight core values of; love, empathy, repair, social context, forgiveness, authenticity, courage and pleasure,“I think the fact that we’ve equated justice with punishment is a huge disservice to us and I would really like to make [justice] synonymous with healing,” Liss said.

Rape forgiveness article... I feel like your setting us up for what's about to surface with politicians crimes against children... 👁️

No I’m not forgiving nobody.

I did too. My rapist was my 16 yr old boyfriend and he was a very mixed up young man. Everything failed us at the time. Not my chemistry teacher who saved my life.

First thing on the road to recovery would be covering mental health treatment after a traumatic event like rape. Our currently provincial health care plan excludes the type of therapy needed to get over traumas like rape, sexual assault & domestic violence that cause PTSD

After complaints over her clothes, Quebec MNA Catherine Dorion pressured out of National AssemblyFormal complaints over Dorion’s orange hoodie on Thursday follow a controversy that arose after she posted a photo in a short skirt in the assembly As inappropriate as a male member wearing shorts . Men have for generations learned to wear clothes appropriate to the task at hand . All too often women fail at that task ------- then scream , sexism, not realizing that what they wear is sexist. 🤪 So was it the orange hoodie she as wearing as reported earlier, and photographed wearing? Because this makes it appear it was a short skirt? Either way the story should be foolish dress codes and not a sensationalized story of short skirts.
