Senegal's government accuses Canadian police of 'savagely' beating Ottawa embassy diplomat ottnews ottawa

The Gatineau Police Service in Quebec is responding to an accusation from the government of Senegal that officers beat an on-duty Ottawa diplomat earlier this week.

"During this operation, the Canadian police exercised humiliating physical and moral violence on the diplomat in front of witnesses and in the presence of her minor children," according to the release. "The person resisted arrest and bit a second officer. The person was then brought to the ground to be subdued [and] was detained in the back of the patrol vehicle, under the supervision of a policewoman, until the bailiff carried out his order and the situation returned to calm," the release continued. The police release went on to state that, later that day, shortly after 3 p.m.

CBC News reached out to Global Affairs Canada, who acknowledged the request and said they would reply "as soon as possible."

Cops need to wear body cams at all times. Video evidence is necessary in cases like this

I'm siding with the cops on this one. Pull the embassy staff back to Canada and stop all funding to Senegal and send their diplomats packing. If they don'tike it here they can go home.

Loooooooooool

Sounds like someone was talking when they should've been listening

Well this is Ottawa we're talking about. He probably made too much noise and offended one of the citizens so they called in the gestapo. No horses were injured in the altercation

In Canada, if you punch a police officer in the face, you bloody well get arrested. No matter where you are from!!!!! And then turning it around with LIES won’t help.

What? diplomat refused to pay rent that bailiff had to be called.

Fuck diplomatic immunity, if you break laws, you face the consequences.

Truth will out.

‘'Faced with this situation, the government of Senegal immediately summoned .... the Canadian Embassy in [Senegal's capital] Dakar to vigorously denounce and strongly condemn this racist and barbaric act,'’ Straight to the race card - the Senegalese have been watching CBC!

Seems gender and race is only used when needed to promote a specific emotion. This story must be very traumatic for the left.

Maybe go with bodycams in the future. I'm surprised that Senegal didn't see it live on a zoom call.

Defund the police .black lives matter

Every time i see one of them flash back on how they murder george floyd in front of the world and no one could say or do anything. That is some one mother , sister and daughter.

Oh my god canada terrorist racist police persecuting ppl of minority again.

Diplomatic status says it all, police should know better, they were present to assure everything went “smoothly” lol 🤭

Independent investigators required . Serious accusations from Senegal.

You mean a police officer? There is nothing such as gender anymore.

Why say 'Canadian police'. Implies the federal police BUT, it's a city police. Quebec's Gatineau Police

It wouldn't be a criminal offense to produce a weapon and defend yourself with lethal force against a member the PoliceGatineau if they are acting in a threatening manner, acting aggressively or are using excessive force. Let alone bite or punch them. You have rights.

I trust the police on this one.

Ottawa police opt against laying charges after 'desecration' at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier | CBC NewsThe Ottawa Police Service says it's not charging a man connected to what Canada's national defence minister recently called a 'desecration' of the city's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. 'He showed remorse for the incident and police are confident that he will not repeat it.' Is that all it takes now?! 'I'm sorry I held up the bank, officers, won't do it again.' So you’re basically saying if it’s a US Army widow who drapes a flag over the Canadian war monument it’s desecration ! Okay how fuck is that the case cbc! Cuz dang you get paid for this bullshit story! So atleast say it all not just what the liberals what you to say! The disrespect we have seen shown to this monument since January of this year tells us everything we need to know about the freedom (occupation) convoy movement.

Ottawa to temporarily freeze handgun imports until permanent ban comes into effect | CBC NewsPublic Safety Minister Marco Mendicino says Canada plans to temporarily ban the import of handguns into the country without the approval of Parliament. The change will last until a permanent freeze passed by Parliament comes into force. From what I understand most of the handguns come in illegally. Don’t understand why Mendocino is so proud? Watched a video montage of this guy compulsively lying in the house and on interviews. Mendocino seems as greasy as polititions come. He can't be trusted That’ll show the criminals! Now they’ll have to illegally smuggle their weapons in like…… (checks notes)……. They’ve always done
