Signs reading 'temporarily closed due to COVID-19 risk' can be found on the doors of many churches around Saskatoon.

Pastor Andrew Klassen said while the decision was difficult to temporarily suspend operations at the church, it is for the well being of roughly 600 members.“We have a responsibility as an active part of our neighbourhood and community and city. We simply wanted to be proactive in being part of finding the solution.”Klassen believes the number of people who attend and their ages play a role if a church wants to remain open, such as Hope Fellowship or St. Patrick Parish.

He said they will look at creative ways for people to engage through online platforms and smaller group meetings.“We are just trying to embrace this as an opportunity for us to test and stretch ourselves,” Klassen said.Saskatchewan activates its pandemic plan following new presumptive cases of COVID-19Klassen believes it’s roughly a 50/50 split around the city for open and closed churches.

This is where we need to see Ottawa leadership. The premiers doing excellent job in their role, but it will be on the financial help where federal gov must step up. Unfortunately jkenney keeps trying to lump Alberta's failing economy in with things impacted by covid-19. The oilsands are not viable because the Saudis & Russians are having a price war. $75/barrel might not come back for 100 years. Are we supposed to bailout Big Oil until then rexglacer Unfortunately Trudeau gave away all of our money, then borrowed more and gave that away as well so Canadians are out of luck.

Western Canada: Alberta’s economy hit from two directions by COVID-19, oil-price crashThe Globe looks at happens now as the West enters a period of enormous uncertainty Don't forget decades of incompetent conservative gov'ts who fleeced Alberta at every turn and left nothing in the bank for times such as these. Should have diversified the economy decades ago, and stop banking on a commodity that no one wants. Doesn’t help that Kenney gave 4.7 billion to oil execs as they were automating jobs away. Kenney emptied the coffers for a manufactured emergency and now has nothing left for a real one.
