From Jan. 16 through Feb. 5, One Yellow Rabbit will play host to more than 100 local, national, and international artists for what the Rodeo’s producer Oliver Armstrong promises will be “a wild, unconventional, boundary-breaking festival of unmissable stuff you can’t see anywhere else. The Rodeo is back full-on and full-out, using what we’ve learned to deliver a safe but still bold three weeks of the coolest of artists and their work.
MINE is an experimental production from Vancouver’s Theatre Replacement. The show explores mother and son relationships through Minecraft. Horacio Quiroga, who is considered the Edgar Allan Poe of Latin America and one of the most celebrated living horror writers, will present After which is about the final days of his wife Ana Maria Cires. It will run from Jan. 24-Feb. 4 in the tiny studio theatre at the GRAND for only five audience members at each performance, so it is sure to sell out quickly.
There are also performances from Calgary’s Decidedly Jazz Dance Works, Christopher Bailey’s Sleepwalk Collective from the United Kingdom, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Montreal’s Edouard Lock, as well as Ephemeral Artifacts from Travis Knight, an animator, producer, director and former rapper from Ontario.Article content
