Thomson ReutersPeople run during clashes with police in IranVideo posted on social media and obtained by Reuters shows a crowd dispersing and shouting on a street outside a university in Tehran as Iranian security forces clashed with students.
Activist Twitter account 1500tasvir, which has around 160,000 followers, posted several videos showing Sharif University, traditionally a hotbed of dissent, surrounded by dozens of riot police. Students had been protesting at numerous universities on Sunday and demonstrations were held in several cities such as Tehran, Yazd, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Shiraz and Mashhad, with participants chanting "independence, freedom, death to Khamenei," earlier social media posts showed.
Iranian authorities have not given a death toll, while saying many members of the security forces have been killed by "rioters and thugs backed by foreign foes." Last week state television said 41 had died, including members of the security forces. Iranian state media shared a video of pro-government students, who gathered at the Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, chanting "the Islamic Republic is our red line."
Iran's police authorities say Amini died of a heart attack and deny she was beaten to death in custody.

Oh you finally decided to report on what’s actually going on in Iran!? Is your employee Ginella_M going to tweet out to minimize the gravity of this atrocity! Is she going to mention that this is also happening in Quebec! Are there no ethical guidelines for your journalists?

Please be the voice of Iran. These elite students are being killed by the government. So many of them are arrested by the government.
If only the Iranians had a 2nd Amendment so the people could defend themselves…
brentwhite555 These brave students need some relevant defensive tools, obviously…
Looks like Ottawa. Did the government freeze their accounts yet?

RealAndyLeeShow Tragic and should be reported on. So you didn't notice any twitter accounts posting hundreds of thousands of ppl worldwide protesting about lockdowns and cov vax mandates?
Given their anti-protest stance, liberals have zero moral authority here. Stand back and let Pierre handle this one.
Well yeah, they’ve been blocking roadways, so it’s an occupation now. People live in those areas and they’re afraid. Imagine the honking there. Have they tried getting an injunction for the noise? I wonder if their EA allows them to freeze accounts.
