I’ve been thinking about Mike Bloomberg. Which is one way of alerting the world to just how idle my days and thoughts are. In the current turbulent times here in Canada, the story of billionaire Bloomberg’s baffling bust against Biden and Bernie has been a beam of sunshine from another place, a way to remind Canadians that not all follies take place on our soil.
Any day before what the Americans call Super Tuesday the clattering pundits of panel and internet were happy to view the $60-billion tycoon as the tiger to take on Trump.
Dear me. If it were not for the fear of the reflection being turned on my hapless self, I would venture the supposition that the wisdom of pundits is a fleeting and fugitive commodity. I will note that those who were quickest to perform the autopsy on the “dead” Biden campaign, were also the first to articulate the terms of his “resurrection.” Lazarus on Monday, the Saviour on Wednesday. Considering the speed with which they contradict themselves, their brains must rest on gyroscopes.
Of course the over $500 million he spent was not solely directed to this distant haven. It was brutally wasted in all the Super Tuesday states, hiring strategists and paying for polling, a neat Soviet blitz of campaign ads, and staff for Bloomberg offices in all the key states.
We had our own version of the money-vanity campaign here in Canada. Kevin O’Leary confused his bank account with evidence of political appeal and thought he could be Canada’s Trump. You saw where that went. Not to say, however, that he couldn’t have swept Fogo.In the meantime he owes American Samoa a thank-you visit. And perhaps an apology for not sending the whole bundle, all 500 million plus, there in the first place, instead of scattering it over the land on the winds of his own vanity.
But Trump did it!
Rex Murphy you’ve lost it with your right wing propaganda.
Time for Rex to retire.
And your qualified to give us this great insight because
Please Rex tell us more...
Funny you didn’t mention Donald the turd as well! ridiculous
Rich people like him, Soros, Trudeau have no respect for laws or our democracy. They think they are above the law. Laws are just an inconvenience for them.
Trump fu***d the whole US of A,he deserves to lose re election.
If only his 1 mil giveway would happen
Rex knows a thing or two about insulting the people.
jeez, who does he think he is? Hillary Clinton? LOL.
At least Bloomberg isn't a climate denier like Rex.
So does Donald Trump.
“No more endless wars” We are at war. “We will have the best healthcare.” 10 million lost healthcare. “Tax cuts will fix the economy” 4 trillion more in debt. Best President ever.
True Dat. His Arrogance cost him over 500 million $. He can afford it unfortunately
Letsfixit2019 small man syndrome tries to talk big
The NP is turning into the National Rag.
You not kid yourself Trump is the most vulgar man in the US and he had billions from right wing donors which is just a vulgar at least Bloomberg spent his own money
Worked for Trump though.
Not clear why political candidate ROI is measured like first weekend box office revenue. Surely ‘advertising’ of that ilk will resonate for the whole season while in theatres till November. As insults are commonplace this’ one, if it is one at all, speaks with $ just like 2016.
Terrible take. Hard miss Rex
Dumb take.
'Which is one way of alerting the world to just how idle my days and thoughts are.' Great quote to describe how you have lost your way and voice, Rex Murphy
Kind of like how you constantly insult Canadians' intelligence? Let me check, is it hot or cold outside today Rex? I need to know if climate change is still on... Idiot.
Bloomberg *is* the United States, and that's why it deserves to lose.
