A city-ordered evacuation order for 738 Island Highway South was lifted Saturday.

A city-ordered evacuation order for 738 Island Highway South was lifted Saturday, said acting municipal manager Drew Hadfield.

However, an evacuation alert remains in place in case of additional slides as rain continues to fall. About 30 residents of the 16-unit condominium building and a neighbouring rental apartment building at 758 Island Highway South were evacuated on Tuesday evening after two landslides raced down the steep hillside. No one was injured.

Most people stayed with family and friends while city staff and consultants examined the site and the structures for safety.
