There will reportedly be a women's 3-on-3 scrimmage during the NHL's all-star weekend.

For the past three seasons, the top women’s hockey players from Canada and the United States have been invited to participate in the skills competition. Kaplan adds that the league will make an announcement with the details on how the scrimmage will work and some new elements for the skills competition.

Last year, American Kendall Coyne Schofield became the first woman to compete in the skills competition when she participated in the fastest skate event, finishing in seventh place with a time of 14.346 seconds. There was also some controversy last year during the passing drill as Team USA’s Brianna Decker demonstrated the circuit and ended up completing it in one minute six seconds, which was three seconds faster than Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl, who was named the winner. As a result, many took to social media suggesting that Decker should have received $25,000 and fortunately, Decker’s sponsor, CCM, stepped up to make things right.

All the comments from men that are afraid of wimen’s skills are hilarious! But here is a reminder of last year, when women players beat the men in the skills competitions!

FAN590 Cool idea but I won’t watch

Another reason not to watch

Oh my hurting skates, this young lady really fly!!!!!!

What about the other 70 genders? Why aren't they entitled to a 3-3 scrimmage as well?

I like the Skills Comp part of ASG weekend.....but the actual AS game...whatever the format, whoever’s playing, etc.....is pretty boring

So Ovi is playing now ?

Time for nhl to remove the all-star game/joke. It now features the 3-4th best player of ea position in a game no single 'real' fan watches. Real stars all opt out now. Players dressed as superman for shootouts, women 3v3s, im assuming clown midgets will play some game..dreadful

Maybe ask Pierre McGuire to keep his ignorant, rude and sexist comments to himself this year...or better yet...DON'T USE HIM.

I’m going out right now to see if I can find anyone who gives a fuck

Adding garbage to garbage

I heard there's also gonna be a men's baking competition during the all-star festivities.

sprusina Amazing! I really hope this rumour is true. We don’t get to see women’s hockey at the top level nearly enough. Now sportsnet broadcast or stream canwmt Olympic trial

WabKinew They should never have gotten rid of the woman’s hockey league in the first place.

Why?

The guys who are knocking this idea probably couldn’t hold a 4th line role on a novice beer league team

This sounds like something that should happen at the NWHL all star game ....

I’ll have the tv on a different channel when that’s on lol

Love it! The women are very skilled players. I wish they more stability and NHL support for their league. I'll be looking forward to seeing them play!

Don’t bother complaining if you weren’t going to watch the all-star game in the first place like most of us, it’s mostly for kids anyway..

People watch the all star game?

Won't be long and women will taking over the NHL. They will start demanding to be drafted into the NHL.

Nobody wants to watch that. Nobody.

I think it's a good idea. Need to showcase the women's talents. Honestly though, I don't do All Star games, especially the NFL and NBA, which are just meaningless. I will watch some NHL All Stars, but not a lot.

Not a terrible idea but if you have room for extra players maybe they should be Marchand, Barkov, Makar, etc

FUCK YA

I'll watch the shit out of this

Really? People still watch the 'All- Star' game?

FAN590 Sad thing is the women need the men to be successful. That's not good, not good at all.

This event has deteriorated over the years and this won’t help fix that. I remember watching this game when players would actually body check. It seems to be a merchandising effort now. Pass.

Comments on here by all these trolling accounts are amazing. One, you don't care about hockey, if you did you would support this, secondly, you dont respect yourself or anyone else, thirdly, ur just scared that women can out do u in said sport. Shamefully bunch of degenerates

FAN590 Here come the conservatives with their filthy comments

...which no one will see bc no one watches the godawful all star game anymore...

This isn't really NHL all stars anymore

Some hot girl on girl on girl action. All right

Ewww

I can't wrap my head around people being upset by this. Women's hockey needs more attention and this is a good way to do it. However, during the world junior tourney why aren't women playing then too? Start making these events together and maybe people will watch.

Bro, NHL fans are a disappointment today. Love this idea

This is awesome. I love getting to watch women's hockey during the Olympics. Unfortunately it's the only time I get the chance.

Why?

It’s bantam level hockey at best, let’s not pretend it’s elite. Rather see some elite juniors or AHLers get some ice time

you really want to play with men? LET THEM. It would be interesting to see how many could stand up to the body checks from guys like Zdeno Chara. They had a woman goalie back in the 90s, she did not do too good for the lightning, i think she lasted half a game.

Are they going to be (only ) American players ?

Why?

So glade I'm not watching this Crap

Not interested in watching but good idea

Bottom line is the people who buy tickets dont want to pay to watch women play hockey. Just stating facts

I’d like to also see one women and two men on a team also.

Get ready for angry white dudes.

You people

Everyone wants to grow the game so the cap can go up so their favourite team can keep all the their stars... how can you be negative and sooky when the league makes an effort to grow the game

Zzzzzzzzzz 😬

It's an extra scrimmage, as in more hockey (not to mention 3 on 3 which is fantastic). Why so many complaints? The women involved have more talent then all the naysayers in the comments. Look forward to it.

Don’t care

And Matt Tkachuk will be playing in it for sure

I’m not watching anyway. I liked the old format..

Is this really necessary

That's awesome! Now we have a reason to watch.

Nice! Should be fun

Why

Holy shit. The blatant negativity and disrespect on this post is mind boggling. WTF are all these guys afraid of ? Don’t wanna watch? Fine go grab a beer but what’s the point of pissing and moaning about it ?

No cares about women’s hockey. Move on!

Okay.

I'm sure 2% of the viewership will be enthralled. The other 98% will be off to refill beer, grab nachos, use the can, write an inmate a letter, save a kitten from a tree, start laundry & maybe have a quick nap. NHL: You are great for break time(s)!

Here we go again

Mixed teams would make great games

I respect the idea but that will be the time where I turn off the tv lmao

Why?

Cool idea. Last year Decker and Schofield were the highlight of an otherwise same old generic competition.

Why?

Great - that will be the time to refill the fridge and make the nachos

Ill.
