The firing comes just a day after Senators’ president of business operations, Anthony LeBlanc, resigned.LeBlanc had been on the job for around three years, less than a month after the club was sold to Toronto billionaire Michael Andlauer.
Mann joined the Senators as a part-time scout in 2010; he transitioned into a full-time amateur-scout role with the Sens in 2014. In 2016 he was moved into the lead scouting role, and in 2017-18, Mann was named the Dir. of Amateur Scouting, where he oversaw all draft decisions at the draft table. Last season, he was promoted to assistant general manager.
Although he was an assistant manager, he was in charge of the club’s amateur scouting staff. Mann ran the club’s draft table for the 2023 NHL Draft last month in Nashville and oversaw the development camp that ended last week in Ottawa. He helped select the likes of Hoyt Stanley, Matthew Andonovski, Owen Beckner and more in Nashville. Mann’s son Matteo was selected in the seventh round by the Philadelphia Flyers.
Mann’s brother, Troy, was fired from the Senators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators, back in February following a win over the Rochester Americans. According to reports, the decision by the organization to fire Troy Mann caused tension in the organization’s front office.
