Masstown farmer launches pumpkins over a kilometre for charity | SaltWireA proposed Port Coquitlam daycare rejected by neighbours and council is getting a second chance.
Mayor Brad West was absent during last week’s council meeting when eight residents opposed the proposal, saying Grant Avenue is already clogged with parked cars and has no sidewalk. One resident said she couldn’t see how the daycare can accommodate 65 kids, and compared the facility to a “prison”. Another raised concerns about the daycare’s proximity to a green zone where bears have been sighted.
Coun. Darrell Penner, who chaired the meeting in Mayor West’s absence, said the city hasn’t seen this many people come to a public hearing before.
