Two key negotiations have bogged down the NHL’s hub cities announcement... The 1st involves host details, safety, testing and camp procedures. The 2nd is a CBA extension, with players due more than $446M in bonuses on Wednesday. From frank_seravalli:

Two separate but inextricably linked negotiations have bogged down the National Hockey League’s announcement on hub cities and fixed dates as hockey marches toward a return to the ice.

A simple majority vote is required by the NHLPA’s full membership to ratify any proposal, but the vote will reportedly include both the CBA extension and the return-to-play specifics lumped together. - With the salary cap remaining frozen, it would be de-linked from revenue projections for the first time in the cap era.

In order to illustrate what those terms might mean for both sides, a few assumptions must be made. The disclaimer is that these numbers, which have changed frequently throughout the negotiating process, may not be fully accurate but are for illustration purposes. Given that there is no way to know whether arenas next season will be empty, half-full, full, or somewhere in between, one 2020-21 revenue projection is $2.5 billion.

Somewhere between $600 to $700 million would be added to the players’ balance owing, ballooning the amount due to owners to north of $1 billion.

New England Patriots hope winning still in fashion for Cam Newton - TSN.caOne is a man of a million fedoras. The other is all about the hoodie. But whether Cam Newton and Bill Belichick can take the New England Patriots back to the Super Bowl is going to be more about football than fashion. What an asinine headline. Be a sports journalist and put in effort. Cam Newton is a professional athlete that busted his ass to recover from an injury everyone thought would be his downfall and is now gonna be a QB1 on a good team. He wants to win. I’m saying this as a Bills fan I don’t WANT the guy to win against my team but to continue to push the tired out “wishy washy non-team player headcase player” narrative is lowkey embarrassing. He is a workhorse and I wish the Bills signed him to create competition QB. He even said he would be backup if needed Good luck
