Last Updated Friday, May 27, 2022 2:26PM EDTCourt of Canada says Alexandre Bissonnette, who went on a deadly shooting spree at a Quebec City mosque, can apply for parole after 25 years behind bars.
Bissonnette pleaded guilty to six charges of first-degree murder in the January 2017 assault that took place just after evening prayers. Quebec's Court of Appeal subsequently ruled the provision invalid on constitutional grounds and said the judge erred in making the ineligibility period 40 years. It said the court must revert to the law as it stood before 2011, meaning the parole ineligibility periods are to be served concurrently, resulting in a total waiting period of 25 years in Bissonnette's case.
Dislike
Nice
And he should be denied and denied forever for such a crime
Does this now apply to everyone given a longer than 25 years before eligibility for parole ?
Taxpayers are paying his accommodations, a roof over his head & meals for 25 years meanwhile there are criminal-free homeless people down on luck living on the streets Taxpayers money not helping them..
Why, ineffective legal system 🤔
A white Christian terrorist the killed 6 Muslims, gets a slap on his arm for doing it
Doesn’t mean he’ll get parole. He can apply BUT they will turn his application down.
False hope for him. Wonder if the tables turned. Bissonnette was muslim and the 6 men were white, all other factors the same. Curious if the outcome would turn out the same. Replies ignored
So long as nobody grants him it I am okay. I don’t understand the ruling but I just have to have faith the board denies him.
Unconstitutional? Really? He has the rights of any human. He does not have the rights of law abiding citizens. And ever kid gets a trophy.
They better not give him parole, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did 🤦♂️
Alll murders should get life and no parole at all. Canada you. Suck when it comes to the justice system
