The man who killed two people and attacked five more with a sword in Quebec City in 2020 has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Carl Girouard was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder.

Sporting a shaved head and an orange shirt, the young man sat still and looked at the floor as he listened to statements from his victims' families.Speaking via video-conference all the way from Paris, Duchesne's sister, Marie-Josée, gave an emotional account about how her life had changed since her brother was murdered.

Clermont's sister-in-law, Marie-Claude Veilleux, who was present in the courtroom and who also attended every day of Girouard's trial, took the stand. She told him she hoped he wouldn't cover his ears with his hands as she spoke, something she accused him of doing during the trial to "fake a mental illness."

Montreal public health director wants small amounts of illegal drugs decriminalized in city | CBC NewsFollowing a new drug policy introduced in British Columbia, Montreal's public health director, Dr. Mylène Drouin, says she wants small amounts of illicit drugs to be decriminalized in the city. She's insane. Keep copying San Francisco aka BC of the North. BC has highest per capita drug overdoses, infection and death rates. And keep copying their failed enabling programs: free needles, methadone clinics, safe injection sites, prescription grade opioids and now decriminalization. Also Montreal: why do we have no tourists anymore?
