Ben Chiarot scored in OT and Cayden Primeau made 35 saves for his first NHL victory as the CanadiensMTL defeated the Senators 3-2.

Nick Cousins and Tomas Tatar scored in regulation for the Canadiens , who have won three in a row and four of their last five.Brady Tkachuk and Connor Brown scored for the Senators , who dropped to 5-12-2 on the road this season.

It took Tkachuk six shots but he finally scored on Primeau, a power-play goal between the pads at 4:30 of the third with Brendan Gallagher in the box for tripping. The Senators came out flying in the first period and led 8-1 in shots but the Canadiens settled the game down and got on the board first. Primeau, the 199th overall draft pick in 2017, was even busier in the second when Montreal’s loose defensive play led to three odd-man rushes.
