Premiers accept federal health-care funding proposal

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson — the current head of the Council of the Federation, the group that represents the premiers — told CBC News Network'sBut Stefanson cautioned that the cash injection is not a long-term fix.

Canada's premiers will accept the federal health-care funding offer, says Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson, chair of The Council of the Federation. "We will be accepting the money from the federal government but...this does not represent what is a long-term funding need." pic.twitter.

The funding for the shared priorities will also be contingent on the provinces and territories developing "action plans" detailing how these funds will be spent and how progress will be measured. Ottawa's proposal includes a five per cent annual hike to the CHT for the next five years. The CHT escalator will revert to a three per cent increase each year after that.

Ohio, not worth mentioning ?

They’re gonna need it since america is poisoning us

More money will not fix the problem. We already spend some of the highest capital per citizens on health care. Injecting more money is not the solution. We need to rethink, and re-organize the health care system to better accommodate our society.

I wouldn't trust the Premiers to be honest with their handling of this money, without serious strings attached .

Does this include ABDanielleSmith and PremierScottMoe? They both had voiced opposition to the Digital ID and data sharing aspects of the proposed deal. Did the feds remove that clause or did the two premiers fold on their positions?

Hey I got an idea: We need to Beg and Plead to the other G7 countries and start a donation campaign to restore 1st world health care. This is our only hope , as the 3rd world country we have degenerated into.

Liberals of Canada

Acceptance of a bad deal will bit them and screw Canadians. Hooe folks like federal push for less services. Ask vets what trudeau thinks if you ask for needed medical services

Once again the Liberals screw Canada.

I want every penny spent accounted for and proof that the $ is spent on healthcare. I’m looking at you Doug Ford! 🧐

10+ pages of 👇 Fee-for-Service looks more like a marketing and sales bonus chart + salary.🧐 Any chance this might tempt Drs to: Only treat patients w/ highest ROI? Dismiss patient complaints b/c 'not worth it $'? Push for treatment(s) patients don't need?

Trudeau refused to meet for 1 YEAR while people died in ERs, trying to “politicize” the deaths of Canadians…Trudeau gave a 2% increase a year that solves NOTHING, Trudeau’s dropped Federal Health transfers 22% when they should be 50%…he gives away “borrowed” money daily though

Time to get out of Canada. Digital ID will turn this country into a 3rd world shit hole! Thanks Trudeau voters! Your grandchildren will suffer

What does modernize the healthcare system mean? No details

How could they not ?

Surprise Surprise Surprise. I was wrong. I figured the “final offer” strong arm approach of the Feds would have provoked a counter offer from the provinces (especially Dougie Ford).

Strings, are there strings attached?

For Super Bowl ads this year, booze reigns supreme and crypto disappears | CBC NewsThe hottest ticket in town for advertisers is officially sold out. Fox said on Monday that in-game ads for Super Bowl LVII have all been sold — and this year, booze is in while crypto is out. That’s right. Keep glamorizing booze and shaming people who do drugs. Even though alcohol makes its way on the list of most dangerous substances as excessive alcohol consumption is the third leading preventable cause of death in the US. Here in Toronto Big Government blocks US signals so we have to watch Russell Oliver yelling about buying our gold. Or Nav Bhatia selling a new Hyundai.
