TORONTO -- A woman, who is seven months pregnant and suffering from cardiac issues in Toronto, is facing deportation to Bangladesh, despite medical specialists warning that it’s unsafe for her to travel.
"They don’t think about the impact on my upcoming baby," Sultana said through tears. "I told them that I am going, but give me at least until my unborn child is here without stress, without any high risk of travel." A spokesperson for CBSA told CTV News Toronto that it is unable to comment on specific cases due to privacy concerns, but said that the decision to remove someone from Canada is not taken lightly.
A doctor, who specializes in high risk pregnancies, wrote to the CBSA that Sultana is under her care for investigation of cardiac issues in pregnancy. Sultana said that she was told by CBSA that if she refuses to comply with the deportation on Jan. 10, she and her husband could face imprisonment.
Thank you so much for sharing our story
Unfortunate situation hope it all works out for this family. Interesting how the vast majority of people who want to immigrate from underdeveloped countries choose countries that were originally built on Jewish/Christian principles. Must be some spiritual truth to the writings.
Show some Mercy and have a bit of heart we are talking about an unborn child's life here.
Let’s wait to see what an independent specialist says, before automatically believing a possibly “paid off” Dr.’s recommendation, that would ensure the child is born as a Canadian citizen!
Show mercy
Did you just assumed her gender?!? 😳
