'The Indigenous peoples have much to teach us about care and protection for the family,' he said at a public address in Quebec City.

Pope Francis and Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, right, arrive at the Citadelle during his papal visit across Canada in Quebec City on Wednesday.

It marks the fourth day of his visit to Canada, which he is calling a pilgrimage of healing, reconciliation and hope. In it, he expressed feelings of "deep shame and sorrow" as he did two days prior to residential school survivors in Maskwacis, Alta., and reiterated a request for forgiveness "for the wrong done by so many Christians to the Indigenous peoples."

"In that deplorable system, promoted by the governmental authorities of the time, which separated many children from their families, different local Catholic institutions had a part."

They never learned and today is No different!

Oh boy. Can't touch that one.

If Pontifex was honest and authentic in asking for Indigenous culture to be protected he would pull out all Catholic priests from these communities and fund the revival of indigenous languages, faith and spiritual traditions which his church destroyed. TruthAndReconciliation

Let's not forget many indigenous parents sent their children off to live in the residential schools all across North America. Poor parenting and an unhealthy homelife resulted in the recognition many children would have a better future if they attended the residential schools.

Then why are Indigenous children over represented in our foster care system and juvenile courts?

The Catholic church knows symbolic steps are the cheapest to make. If they were sued for reparations by every indigenous people they've almost destroyed, there would be repo men showing up at the Vatican.

This bullshit coast us $35 Million for a Pedo to come here and fake apologize

pontifex needs a new speechwriter. Spoke of Ukrainian refugees--how many of them were torn from their loving family,,went to IRS & suffered all the many abuses there. GGCanada got it right--the Pope, not so much. He continues to show his true colours.

That’s why social services has to take care of so many First Nations children. That’s such a bunch of crap that the natives don’t even believe that BS comment. I thought this was about “truth” and reconciliation. 🤔

He's refering to the culture that the DoctrineOfDiscovery was designed to exterminate

Yeah. Did he bring back the boat belonging to the indigenous peoples that somehow ended up as part of the Vatican's loot?

This guy is an apostate

It's not all about them.
