Pope Francis on Sunday expressed pain and sorrow at the deaths and suffering of migrants crossing the English Channel, at the border between Poland and Belarus and in the Mediterranean Sea.

The pope asked the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square for the traditional Sunday blessing to pray "for migrants and their suffering." Those present included members of an association of migrants with whom he met a day earlier at the Vatican, and who held an enormous banner comprised of flags from countries around the world.

"I feel pain at the news of the situation in which many find themselves. Of those who died in the English Channel, of those at the border of Belarus, many of whom are children. Those who drown in the Mediterranean. How much sorrow, thinking of them." Overnight Sunday, the Italian Coast Guard rescued 244 migrants off the coast of Calabria, the toe of the Italian boot, in difficult sea conditions. Those rescued included 41 minors, among them an infant born Saturday on the packed wooden fishing boat.

Omicron!

We agree, they are a pain...

More sanctimonious manure from Francis the talking mule.

Pontifex should start selling off the holdings of the Vatican and help these people find settlement instead of voicing his opinions and concerns from the god damned pulpit! Collectors would pay a king’s ransom for documents, artworks and textiles. Do something words mean nothing

Justin knew weeks ago. And if this variant gets here from Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Belgium, UK or any other European country? The reason for banning Southern African nations and not others seems to be because they are least vaccinated rather that most infected Alternate approach: send them more vaccines To compensate for negative effects of imposing travel restrictions on southern parts of Africa, Canada should immediately support TRIPsWaiver, issue licences under Access to Medicines Regime for vaccines & deliver promised vaccines & more to affected countries.

Channel migrant deaths: Smugglers net millions per kilometreThe price to cross the English Channel varies according to the network of smugglers, between 3,000 and 7,000 euros. And another story where the 'victim' chooses to kill themselves Regardless of the well known risks beforehand If people are dumb enough to pay it and then climb aboard an over crowded rubber dingy to try and cross the channel then let the idiots do so. But then load them on planes and take them back to where they came from...lol

Camped in Calais, migrants renew resolve to try for EnglandAt the makeshift camps in France near Calais and Dunkirk, migrants are digging in, waiting for their chance to make a dash across the English Channel despite the deaths of at least 27 people this week when their boat sank a few kilometres from the French coast. I'm English and it's the worst thing about me! It’s gotten too easy for people to travel. Why aren't they rounded up and deported right away? Letting this fester is just prolonging the misery and endangering lives.
