Police have been notified for follow-up in more than 21,000 cases where travellers arriving in Canada either couldn't be reached or showed 'indication of non-compliance' with the mandatory 14-day quarantine rules.

OTTAWA -- Police have been notified for follow-up in more than 21,000 cases where travellers arriving in Canada either couldn't be reached or showed "indication of non-compliance" with the mandatory 14-day quarantine rules.

In addition to these latest figures, Canada Border Services Agency confirmed to CTVNews.ca that some travellers indicated a desire not to comply with Canada’s rules as early as the moment they travelled across the border. As Canada shut its borders to all non-essential foreign travel, it also imposed a mandatory 14-day quarantine rule on March 21 for any travellers who do squeeze past the tightened ports of entry.

The news of thousands of suspected rule-breakers emerges as COVID-19 cases explode on the other side of the world's longest international border.

BUT THE BORDERS ARE CLOSED

What essential job do these 21,422 people have in Canada? Essential...... like as in our borders are only open for essential travellers and import/export of goods essential.

Close the border

Really

And here I thought our border was closed? What did I miss?

This aligns with all the personal anecdote chatter I've been hearing for months. Extremely disappointing, but not surprising.

Here we are making sacrifices and they let them in shit i am through all this shit

What about the 36,000 illegal immigrants criminals that were to be deported and have been lost !! That’s really protecting tax paying Canadians. Find them and get the job done !!!

Holy shit close the gaddamn border once and foral

Send this info to BC Transportation...who.just assured me everyone who comes here for vacation 'follows the rules'..and the Americans are only going to Alaska...ah..via Victoria?

The borders never really closed. Flights from Canada to and from all world happening on a daily basis. Don’t tell us to what to do with private businesses. If this was really serious airplanes would not be flying to and from Europe and Asia and most importantly USA.

Just require immediate quarantine in govt run hotels upon arrivals and ask the passengers to pay for 14 days. That will deter them from coming.

fines should be collected immediately and they should be deported. until you send message that follow up will be tough they will keep flouting the rules. it also seems there is no essential reason for some of these trips. innocent canadians have already died due to lax borders

If ´most ’ are complying , how many are we letting in ? 21,000 not adhering to our rules seems like a lot of Americans coming in ! That’s asking for trouble !

Gomer Pile “ suprise surprise surprise “

Cases going up in Alberta. Keep US people out. Don’t let them in. They won’t quarantine because they don’t care.

I have friends at Build-A-Bear that I haven't seen in months because I am following the rules and foreigners can come here unchecked. Sheesh!

meesh_Bergs How are they getting in? Curious minds want to know

The Canada-U.S. border has not been closed to non-essential travel since March. Please see the following news that 1.5 million people came to Canada during pandemic through the Canada-U.S. border for sure.

Nothing will happen because this is what Trudeau did and wants. So everyone can stop complaining. Trudeau does whatever he wants and nobody can do anything to stop him. Now that is funny!!

Lock it up!! Don’t chance it!

They should be forced to quarantine in local hotel at their cost for 2 weeks and/or 2 neg test and closely monitored. Anyone who leaves their room would be charged and deported. A 2nd wave would do tremendous damage to our health/economy. We can’t risk this for a few idiots.

What travellers? Wtf is our stupid government doing or not doing?

and that isn't even including Ford's trips to the cottage and cheesecake parties

What a complete farce this is! Guess we need more lectures from politicians who have broken every rule they demand of us while dithering on every aspect of COVID measures. What happened to those stories of police tracking down & monitoring all these travellers - total bullshit!

Put them in a re-education camp

Seriously?
