UPDATED: Police seen taking at least one demonstrator into custody at blockade near rail line in Tyendinaga, Ont.

Several hours earlier, the Mohawks of Tyendinaga said in a statement that they were in communication with Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller and police to find a peaceful resolution. The statement also said it was waiting for confirmation that the RCMP have left Wet’suwet’en territory in British Columbia before removing their blockade.

The Mohawks and other supporters set up a barricade Feb 6. in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs to stop construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline in B.C. The demonstrations have essentially shut down freight and passenger rail service going through a major rail corridor for the last two weeks, resulting in the temporary layoff of nearly 1,500 rail workers at Via Rail and CN.

The demonstrations began across Canada in wake of the B.C. RCMP enforcing an injunction in unceded Wet’suwet’en territory to allow workers to start construction on the natural gas pipeline. The Prime Minister’s Office had on Sunday ahead of the midnight deadline saying Justin Trudeau and provincial premiers remained committed to resolving the situation peacefully.

Good for them, eco terrorist should be locked up

This article has many factual errors and disinformation. Please correct them, :

Do you ever interview anyone who are against the blockade? Especially considering how many indigenous people are in favour of the pipeline

YourMorning Jail them all, make an example, it must not be allowed to happen again, although you know it will, these people have nothing else to do.

3 people in that picture. The cost? Thousands of jobs and millions if not billions of dollars. This is the product of weak and ineffective government

Bigger problems than roadblocks!

❤️ beautiful

Why do you keep showing the same arrests over and over again? Are you trying to garner sympathy for these idiots

Where are all the wanna be martyrs? Where are the throw themselves in front of a train heroes?

Only one?

Hope both sides are calm and safe

PegidaCanada You're kidding. You mean anti-blockade demonstrator, surely?

Lock them up

Well guess I’m going to start building shit in other peoples’ yards and have the cops arrest the owners if they try to kick me off their property.

I thought Trudeau couldn’t order this!

Good. About time. I hope they start trying these pigs for economic treason.
