At least 10 per cent of all flights at Toronto Pearson International Airport were cancelled on Saturday, with dozens delayed, while travellers report bags left stranded at different locations around the airport

Passengers at Canada’s largest airport experienced cancelled flights, lost luggage and lengthy wait times this weekend, as police were called in to handle conflicts between travellers and staff.

This weekend, many travellers stranded during layovers had no choice but to spend the night sleeping on the floor of the airport or to shell out for hotel rooms. Several passengers told The Globe and Mail that airline staff declined to give them meal or accommodations vouchers.Police were called to Toronto Pearson International Airport on May 21 amid flight delays and cancellations.“We appreciate that this is frustrating and ask that all involved remember to be respectful.

They described jarring experiences with checked luggage, where hundreds of bags were left stranded at different locations around the airport. Travellers kept asking staff about their bags but were met with a lack of answers. “It was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had,” Ms. Stephen said. “I saw an understandably angry mob of people from all over the world who had been waiting for hours. Eventually, they called the cops on them.”

John Petruk, 47, was not allowed to get off his plane after landing in Toronto from Barcelona for hours. “That is absolutely inhumane,” he said.

Travelers felt & continue to endure the worst of this issue, & yet the Transport Minister points the finger at them! That’s completely irresponsible & just shows his incompetence!

This calls for a more competent leadership. temurdur

'Glitches'

Pearson ... what an embarrassment ... what a shithole

Pearson has had shit luggage service for years. Don't blame the ' return to travel' after the pandemic. Canadian airlines have a monopoly coupled with tax payer subsidies handed out by government. They don't give a shit if you wait hours. Do yourself a favor a fly out of Buffalo!

This is 100% the fault of the GTAA and the Federal government. Both completely inept.

It’s a total gong show, was there on Saturday in arrival and communism dictatorship in full effect. Security guards walking around with cops enforcing masks, no one was allowed to stay inside, you had to wait outside. Was proud of this country at one time. Stop useless mandates

Don't fly. Drive. That's it. Car gas is cheaper than aircraft gas.

Came through Pearson yesterday around 12 noon. Less than an hour from plane, through immigration, baggage pick-up to offsite car parking. Most of the time spent walking and waiting a few minutes for checked luggage. Couldn’t have been easier. Timing is everything.

And im sure RWNJ's will blame PMJT BECAUSE nut jobs be nut jobs

Isn’t this eerily similar to the beginning of the Covid crisis? As now as the world exits it and travel opens the Trudeau govt is slow to respond and then only with glib “throw the blame” excuses. While the world prepared for this inevitable return, Canada’s government dithered.

This looks like a covid and monkey pox spreader! Yikes!

Trudeau government blames travellers!

What...me Worry?

JustinTrudeau theJagmeetSingh - will someone please stand up for Canadians and have the courage to do what is right. Hours in endless lines, all vaccinated. This makes no sense. Themandatesmustend.

I don’t blame them one bit. OmarAlghabra needs to resign in shame.

FFS people. Get a grip. Police called for lost baggage temper tantrums? How are people so g*ddmn entitled?

Pearson is a madhouse

Trudeau's Canada.
