Faced with recording the concert alone, at home, the 23-year-old viola student stopped practising altogether.
“Instinctively I just raised my hand,” Kendall said. “I was like, ’Oh, OK. I’ll be there. You have an audience of at least one and I’ll definitely be there.” Mead and Kendall, who served as master of ceremonies for the online recital, ran through the program ahead of time to work out logistical kinks. The live show – pieces by German composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Jean Paul Hindemith, and American folk musician Jay Ungar’s “Ashokan Farewell” – went off without a hitch.When the university cancelled gatherings in mid-March, spurred by widespread social distancing measures, Mead didn’t really think she was entitled to be disappointed.

Final decision on Ontario school year coming next week: FordPremier Doug Ford says that an announcement will be made next week on whether or not Ontario students will be able to return to the classroom this school year. I can’t see a scenario where kids go back to school before the end of june. Hopefully we get specific information during next week’s announcement. Maaaaaaaybe elementary kids based on what we know about this. But I wouldn’t count on it. I just hope they will be going back in September. I'm not very confident that they will.

Feds looking at training unemployed Canadians to help in long-term care homes: employment ministerEmployment Minister Carla Qualtrough told CTV's Question Period that the federal government is looking at creating a training program for unemployed Canadians to provide assistance in long-term care homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A PR ploy on the part of the federal gov to have the public believe all steps are being taken. Training people to work in a clinical setting where there are mass casualties - a ridiculously bad idea. Appropriate PPE, leadership, & clinical redeployment are needed. Interesting, but not everyone is suited to human services work. It takes a special person to have the aptitude, knowledge, and skill set to deal with say an acquired brain injury, MS, or spinal cord injury. You just can’t throw someone in who used to flip burgers CQualtro what about a students job program planting trees for their $9 billion. During the last election Trudeau promised to plant 2 billion trees. Time to release the plan for the tree planting. Or was it just another election lie which the MSM has let him get away with?
