Taylor came to Vegas hot, finishing tied for 10th last week at the Safeway Open in Napa, California, where four Canadians finished inside the top-15.

LAS VEGAS — The only fairway Nick Taylor missed on Thursday at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open was at the short par-four 15th. That’s because he drove the green on the 315-yard hole and made a five-foot eagle putt.

Taylor says his game has been steadily progressing over the past year, and the results are finally beginning to catch up with how good he feels he is playing. Since his days as the world No. 1 ranked amateur, Taylor has preferred – and generally had better results – on more difficult courses. This week at TPC Summerlin is shaping up to be a shootout with soft conditions, perfect weather, and little wind in the forecast. That said, Taylor says his game has grown over the years and he proved on Thursday that he is perfectly capable of going low.
