Pele has successfully undergone surgery for the removal of a kidney stone in a Sao Paulo hospital. The Albert Einstein Hospital said on its website Saturday, April 13, 2019, that Pele's surgery went well, but did not provide additional details. "I hope to be back home tomorrow and starting my physical therapy. All is good, thank God," the 79-year-old Pele wrote onThe soccer great has suffered with mobility problems since a failed hip replacement surgery in 2012.

His spokesman, Pepito Fornos, said it was agreed with organizers that Pele would not be present for the unveiling.
