That’s my way of proclaiming that I am ready to hit the road, mostly for extending angling adventures, but that's evolved to include hunting trips and away from home forays in general.
I spent a full day cleaning up tree debris before getting on with my pre-fishing grass cut. Then more work, the garden lights that found purchase on the poplar had to be all rearranged. And before I did that, while I was at it, I did a bunch of low and dead limb pruning. I finally got the 100-ft of lights restrung. Oh, our hammocks were tied to that bloody tree. The grandkids have to have hammocks. Got 'er done.Labrador box, that’s an expression that goes way back.
There are four of us and we tandem store them in the back of the pickup truck. Nowadays, we use them for all our trips, on the island as well as the Big Land, and both hunting and fishing. Shotguns fit right in there.First, in the bottom of the box goes my wading gear. I place two pairs of wading boots right in the bottom.
We all carry spares – rods do break sometimes. If two break, we can borrow a spare. And it has happened. We all fish the same single-hand rigs.My other two rods are two-handers. I carry a 13-ft eight-wt loaded with a mid-length spey line. The other is an 11.5-ft eight-wt loaded with a Scandi Head System.
