O’Toole has used two main strategies during this leadership race: One has been to paint MacKay as a “Liberal-lite” Red Tory, making the O’Toole camp the home of party members looking for a MacKay alternative. The other has been to position himself as a second-place choice for as many voters of other candidates as possible.Article content continued
Could that support be enough to put Lewis ahead of O’Toole? Or, for that matter, MacKay? At this point, it’s anyone’s guess. But it is a hugely important factor in this race. If Lewis is able to stay close enough to MacKay and O’Toole on the first ballot, Sloan’s voters could help Lewis leapfrog over her rivals, and possibly even into first place.
It’s hard to say whether Lewis will pick up enough first-choice support to be competitive alongside O’Toole and MacKay in the first round. But if she does, she’s positioned to do very well in the next round because much of Sloan’s support will flow to her.Although there are relatively few Conservative party members in Quebec, every riding is still weighted equally in the results, regardless of members. Quebec has 78 ridings, almost a quarter of the 338 ridings nationally.
ahhh... you guys are funny... CPC_HQ we know what we're getting - these are all canadian republican candidates ... ...or what we call nutbar stephenharper clones good luck with your propaganda - I can see your subscriptions are still down, down, down....
Still say it's a no brainer, but Quebec may indeed be the fly in the ointment for Lewis
LeslynLewis all the way !!
I just want a leader...time to take Trudeau down.
I have voted conservative many times but will not again with these guys... liberal it is! Again!
It has been said 'Voters are always right' WRONG! Voters were wrong in 2019 re-electing the most corrupt party in the history of Canada The events of 2020 have proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt. If voters do not elect Derek Sloan DerekSloanCPC they will be wrong again.
The leadership race is rigged in favour of McKay because ridings with very small membership, such as in the maritimes and Quebec, get equal number of votes as ridings with very large memberships such as in the West. Popular vote does not count. Once again the West is screwed
Interesting that all the Canadian MSM ran numerous stories about Kamala Harris, her race, her education & background. Yet no features on the Black, Female Afro-Jamaican / Indian Canadian Immigrant Lawyer with a PhD that could be our next Prime Minister.
Interesting how these ranked ballots work. I'm guessing we're looking at 3 rounds before a leader is chosen. Outside of LeslynLewis I can't see either of the other 2 frontrunners beating Trudeau until a much larger scandal were to emerge. cdnpoli
O'Toole 1, Lewis 2 I left MacKay blank.
It’s the age of “identity/celebrity politics” experience, qualifications, integrity don’t matter only the color of your skin or notoriety. If they don’t choose Lewis they can’t win...common sense is out the window. Do what the Liberals did choose a twit who can read a teleprompter.
If these are the options then I’m holding my nose and voting Liberal again.
Oh my! They flushed one turd and this is what is coming up the pipeline....Hell no!
