PARADISE, N.L. — A home was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night but a family of four escaped the blaze unharmed.

St. John’s Regional fire department platoon chief Mike Hall said one of the residents smelled smoke in the home and reported the fire but by the time firefighters arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames.Firefighters deployed attack lines around the home but the fire was so intense, a master stream was also used to battle the blaze.SJRFD are currently on the scene of a massive housefire on St. Thomas line. Traffic is blocked in the area.
