Veteran forward Brett Ballum scored his second goal of the third period with 16 seconds remaining in regulation time to lift the Vipers to a 4-3 win over the Kent Koyotes in Mount Pearl, N.L., on April 24.The Vipers will play their second game of the day at the Atlantic Canada junior B hockey championship tournament against the Mount Pearl Blades at 7 p.m., Atlantic Time.

Ballum with the winning goal with 16 seconds left seals it for us. Hard fought 4-3 win to open our tournament. Ballum picked up the other 3rd period goal getting him player of the game. Smith finished with 36 saves. Back at it tonight when we play the host.Ballum’s first goal of the game at 2:35 of the third period gave the Vipers a 3-0 lead, but the New Brunswick-champion Koyotes answered with three goals in less than four minutes to tie the game 3-3.

Clark Allain and Marshall Gallant also scored for the P.E.I.-champion Vipers, who received assists from Colby MacDonald and Carson MacKay.The Vipers held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0. Josh Smith turned aside 36 of 39 shots to earn the goaltending win. Kent goaltender Zachary Leblanc stopped 30 of 34 shots.Round Robinvs. St. John’s Caps .
