Investigators believe an organized crime group may be placing GPS trackers on the victims’ vehicles in order to track their whereabouts

Thieves behind a string of residential break-ins may be targeting business owners in Campbell River and the Comox Valley, police say.

The GPS trackers, typically black in colour and the size of a hockey puck, can be easily attached to an inconspicuous part of a vehicle such as a back bumper or axle area, he said. The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce said it has been warning the business community of the potential threat.
