The family of Tori Dunn is gathering in Surrey on Wednesday afternoon for her funeral, with people travelling from all over Canada to attend. “Tori will be missed and we are going to fight for justice,” says Aron.
The suspect has not been charged in connection to Tori's death but was taken into custody for an unrelated charge. As the investigation is ongoing, Aron is limited in what he can share about the suspect. He says he's appreciative of the work the RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are doing. Aron promises to hold people accountable and to find justice for Tori.
Bill C-48 is a reverse onus for serious violent offenders to get bail, where the accused person must demonstrate to the court why they should be released instead of the prosecution proving why they should remain behind bars. "It’s not just about the person who committed the act, but the people who let him do it. We hope no other family has to ever deal with this kind of pain,” says Hailey. “We plan on using that money to help the fight,” says Hailey.
