Many are suggesting the change will discourage donors at a time when blood supplies are perilously low.

We’re trying every day to tell Canadian Blood Services that this is not what people want.” McKibbin is also concerned over CBS’s announcement in June that it was stopping processing and banking of cord blood for three months owing to a shortage of processing kits. In Toronto CBS has 3 permanent clinics. All of them in downtown Toronto (most expensive real estate in the city). Maybe if they opened clinics in East York, North York, Etobicoke, etc. they would get more donors bc it would be easier to donate. 🤷🏻‍♀️
