Ads featuring Dr. Theresa Tam will air starting Monday and until the end of April

Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam speaks during a news conference on COVID-19 Sunday March 15, 2020 in Ottawa. Tam will be featured in a $30-million ad campaign by the federal government urging social distancing and hygiene. The federal government is launching a $30-million national ad campaign Monday to urge every Canadian to do their bit to help prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.

The 15-second ads – two in English and two in French – zero in on the two main things each individual can do to curb the spread of the virus: personal hygiene and social distancing. In one, Tam advises everyone to avoid crowded places, avoid non-essential travel and stay home as much as possible; and, if they may have been exposed to COVID-19, to self-isolate.

The ads are being launched as several provinces have begun warning of fines and even jail time for people who ignore orders to keep at least two-metres distance from other people and isolate themselves at home for 14 days if they’ve just returned from another country.

An emergency broadcast would do the job! 🧐 if this government gets any dumber!... Canada will never recover!...🤨

Media has done a good enough job, just need enforcement and fines

But you don’t need an add ca campaign Ottawa just Emergency Measures ACT. Most people don’t even read print media anymore.

With all the media coverage of this pandemic we need to waste 30 million on ads?

Next step everyone stay home if people don’t social distancing

meanwhile the insane actions of the trudeau govt destroy the economy of the country for what? a virus that may kill the same number of people the flu does every year AND is actually showing LESS deaths than the flu. If the people FALL for this BS they have only themselves 2 blame

JustinTrudeau is expected to waste money on ads. Much better to spend on buying much needed ventilators. COVID19 COVIDIOTS StayAtHome coronavirus QuaratineLife lockdown Toronto

Waste of money or are the MSM being totally ignored these days due to their activism on behalf of the Liberal party of Canada?

30 million dollars !? That money could go to PPE and ventilators ! We are going to need it . As for social distancing, jail these idiots and maybe people will think twice about going out .

This campaign better be funded from fines from those who are still out in droves ignoring socialdistancing..

Look at Taiwan’s approach. They have 7 cases per million we have 39, they have had 2 deaths we have had 20. Their businesses and schools are open ours are closed so economic pain. Ample face masks, temperature checks and sanitizer. Let’s do Taiwan Method!

Instead close all retail stores Nationwide for two weeks so everyone can stay home and not go out.

Wasting 30mil of our hard-earned taxpayers’ dollars while most of us here are laid off and struggling. Shameful. Disgusting.

The time to act was when the first news surfaced about the virus in China.

Ridiculous! “Urging” and “hygiene” as community transmissions are rampant yet next-to-denied by PHAC, and returned snowbirds walking through our neighnourhoods and stores. Enforce the rules, don’t spend $30M to urge, pretty-please ask.

Did you forget to add one more to your list, ... and stopping air traffic coming from China into Vancouver. It is high time.

Classic, they most likely spent the same a mount a few weeks ago saying Covid posed little to no risk to Canadians

Better uses for this money.....

Save the 30 million and just cut off the system.

30 million advertising campaign but no new ventilators, no mention of administering chloroquine, no emergency temporary hospitals, people with symptoms sent home without tests.

Can’t people just watch the daily updates and news

This ad costs 30 million?

Money that should be given to Canadians that have lost their jobs.

spitting on the sidewalk should be illegal.

The money should be given directly to all those who do not get sick.

Why don’t they just use the CBC? They’ve already paid for them.

Physical distancing

Ads aren’t necessary, just mandatory shelter in place. JustinTrudeau fordnation Why the delay?

$30M for an ad? Come on Canada; get it together and please get this guy back to work!

Quebec based PR agencies are rolling in cash. Sponsorship scam all over a again.

Where is private industry in all this? They should be lining up to do this for FREE! We know the tax-funded CBC can't help: they just closed shop.

Phuqing waste of OUR money.

Or Trudeau could declare a state of emergency.

Great way to waste money that could be used elsewhere! 🤦🏽‍♀️

$30 million!? Seriously, why spend the money in that way? The message is on the news 24/7.
